Mildred García, the newly named president of Cal State Fullerton (effective after June 1), left, meets President Barack Obama at the White House. Currently, president of Cal State Dominguez Hills, García, who is the first Latina president in the CSU system, was at the signing to renew the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.

Learning the Value of Higher Education
Area high school students and their parents recently attended a campus meeting to learn more about the Young Senators Program, a partnership effort between Cal State Fullerton and Sen. Lou Correa to encourage more young people to strive for a college degree.

Scholarship Funds International Travel
Nine CSUF students are traveling to distant lands to experience different cultures and attend university courses with students they normally would never have an opportunity to meet, thanks to the federal Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program.

CSU Approves D.N.P.
The California State University has approved the doctor of nursing practice degree program to be offered jointly by Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Los Angeles.
