CONTENTS: We're so used to them being there when we need them, we sometimes take our best buddies for granted. The Chronicle is one of those - a highly credible, useful resource for the nonprofit world. In addition to current news and daily updates on philanthropy, check the features in the left margin for Ideas & Resources, Products & Services (for fundraising), Deadlines (for grant proposals) and more. Among Facts & Figures, you'll find surveys and articles on corporate philanthropy, as well as the results of other surveys conducted by the Chronicle. Need to search for patents and trademarks? Start here, with the buttons in the left margin, or go straight to the FirstGov Site Search button near the top of the page . . . anything to get off the blinking, busy home page. The succeeding pages are crammed with text, but you'll probably find what you want. The FirstGov search feature helps cut through all the talk. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) has replaced the U.S. Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. NAICS was developed jointly by the U.S., Canada and Mexico to provide new comparability in statistics about business activity across North America. Revisions are set for NAICS 2002. A good place to start is on the Ask Dr. NAICS page. It answers such questions as:
