Guardian Scholars

Who are the Guardian Scholars?

The Guardian Scholars are former foster youth pursuing their college degrees through the assistance of our Guardian Scholars program. As wards of the court, foster youth emancipate at age 18 and must transition to adulthood, usually without traditional family support. Having little or no guidance, these youth are vulnerable to homelessness, incarceration and chronic unemployment.

Why should I give?

You can help make dreams come true for former foster youth who have qualified for admission to Cal State Fullerton despite difficult childhood circumstances. As a donor and friend, you will join other individuals, foundations and corporations who are essential to helping these deserving students succeed.

Who benefits from my gift?

The students receive a scholarship and other support. The program is successful: Since it’s inception in 1998, the Guardian Scholars program has graduated numerous students who have gone on to become valuable and contributing members of society.

Archstone Foundation

"When you stop to think that by the year 2030, there's going to be some seventy-two million older Americans in the United States, it's an issue that is very important. Cal State Fullerton has an outstanding group working on senior health issues, which is the primary focus of Archstone."
